TRY TEARS

You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights,
Each tear entered in your ledger,
each ache written in your book.
--Psalm 56:8 The Message

Have you ever been passionate about a situation that seemed to have no resolution, so passionate that it brought you to tears?  Have you ever felt that passionate about the Lord?  Have you ever cried out to the Lord, “How long, Lord?”

As I was praying about this, I came across a story: There was a young man who was seeking a breakthrough in his life in a certain area, but had exhausted all he knew to do. He wrote General William Booth (founder of The Salvation Army) for advice.  The General wrote back two simple words, “Try tears.”*

Try tears.  Not as a form of manipulation or attention getting, but as a release from the deepest place in your heart, passionately seeking God who loves you beyond your wildest dreams.
