STUCK IN THE MUD
/This has been a rough week, one of those times when “faith meets the rut in the road.” (Be careful what you say. You may find yourself in the middle of one of your own sentences!) The week presented a number of situations when my faith needed to wear hip boots because I was in danger of sinking in mud up to my knees! The mud of frustration, exasperation, pride, selfishness, anxiety, and fear all rolled up into one, ready for a mud-slinging fight or two.
Prior to this onslaught, I had the occasion to share my faith with a group of people. One of them asked, “What do you do when you need help?” A perfect “God set-up” question! I gave the only answer I knew to give, “I talk to God.” This week, taking my own advice, I poured out my heart to the One I knew I could trust, knowing it was the only safe place to be. Even then, I let my emotions rule me. In the end, by God’s grace, each molehill situation which could have escalated into a mountain got resolved and my faith was strengthened, a bit of “heaven on earth.” If I had paused and gone to God first instead of getting sucked into the mud, I would have saved myself a lot of pain.
What are you facing today? To what or to whom will you go for help?
